News – September 8, 2015

The September 2015 release of Archie is available. See the Technical Details page for a list of new features.

Archie is an easy-to-use web application designed to help archaeologists catalog and retrieve archaeological data. Archie has been designed and field-tested by archaeologists in real-world excavations for five years. It is scalable from small projects with a single excavator to hundreds of concurrent users with millions of recorded artifacts.  Artifact entries are stored in plain text, can be exported to CSV format, and can have photos, video, or 3d scans attached. Archie is also light-weight and portable; the server can run on older hardware or low power devices such as netbooks.

It is our philosophy that the pursuit of science should be an open process.  To further that goal we have made Archie an open source product. Feel free to download it and give it a try.

If you have any questions or would like to try out the live demo, please contact us at contact@archiedb.com. We can work with you to get Archie working for your business or institution.

You can also check out the poster we presented at the 2014 SAA on Archie here or the Youtube video below that features Archie. Keep in mind that we are actively developing Archie, so these media will not contain all the features that are currently present. Skip to 4:18 for a discussion on Archie.
